A little update - broken MacBook :(

So I was going to do a lovely clothing haul for my little boy but then we had a little accident involving my MacBook, coffee, a toddler and the other half. Needles to say my track pad currently doesn't work and the repair costs are just totally unfeasible so until pay day comes round I have been using a little app called remote mouse on my iphone to control the laptop making editing a video rather challenging. Until we get a new laptop I thought I would write a little wordy blog about our life events over the last few weeks, if anyone wants any further posts just let me know in the comments below.

Zach christening

We deliberately left getting our son christened until he was old enough to at least know something was going on and enjoy the after party. For the day I picked out a super cute next suit in blue with a blue and pink tie. Our son spent the majority of the time enjoying the out door play area and im glad to say just like all his other Next clothing held up really well. Hes a little picture of my boys sorry it isn't great but the mouse issue also means I only have iPhone pictures.

Gardening

We have decided to give our garden a little makeover, don't get we wrong we aren't rich people and only have a small 3 bedroom semi at the moment however our garden in comparison with the house size is rather huge as we have a bigger plot than the 4 bedroom detaches in our street! Back on track ill stop rambling we decided to start turning it into a play park for zachary. On the left we had an overgrown mess of 7 large bushes which had all inter winded to great  mess that took 10 yes 10 skip runs to get to the tip, however as you can see our son loves it and im sure I will have other pictures to share with you guys as we get more done.

The other halfs birthday

We had a simple bar crawl just the two of us which was a perfect catch up, this is a selfie at the start of the night.

Have fun weekend guys unfortunately i'm working weekend nights so wont have many up dates for you.

Bombcosmetics - a honest review and Lush comparison

Bomb, bomb, bomb yes that alternative to Lush Bombcosmteics. I’ve been racking my brain over when I first came across the brand which I first wrote about in 2012. For those that have never heard of Bombcosmetics they make divine smelling bath bombs, candles and soaps at a more affordable prices than Lush.

When I first wrote about them I wasn't impressed with the quality or scent pay off of the products so I thought three years later I thought it was high time I gave them a second and final chance. Im sure the OH will appreciate it if I'm a convert.

So the store, unlike lush their is no lovely face scrubs, big blocks of soap, light airy spaces or any of the in store demonstrations we are all used to seeing. Instead I was greater with plastic wrapped bath bombs, ready portioned soaps, candles in metal jars and big sale preprinted sale signs not the experience I'm used to. However I continued on my attempts at smelling some of the bath bombs choosing two a raspberry ripple bath blasters and one shaped as a grenade with no name.

The OH used the hand grenade shaped one and his input is it was ok nothing special…….Men!! So onto the raspberry ripple we have a rather small bath at the moment so i rarely put a whole one in however in the interest of a good review I popped the whole bomb into my warm bath water, it gave a good fizz and I could smell the scent wafting up which was nice. On getting into the water it did feel lovely and soft if a little oily. The scent stayed around for the duration of my bath and left my skin lovely and soft. The only negative I can say for it is the little bits in the bottom of my bath which you don't get with Lush.

Onto the candles I picked up Very Berry a baby pink candle with super cute little red hearts, ill be honest the little heart drew me in and to look at these are my favourite candles of the moment. With a candle I like a really good scent pay off even if it is at the expense of a long burn time. This didn't disappoint the scent of raspberry, fresh fruits and grapes filled the kitchen yet wasn't over powering defiantly a competitor to my beloveded Yankees!!! You can also get these in some collectables which is a bonus considering how disappointing our local store was.

Finally I picked up to guest soaps (I only put out block soaps when we have visitors), I got Planet rock soap (right) which has a very strange scent its very perfume but has been a hit with the men. Our other choice was Candy Moon which is a very feminine scent with oranges, lemon and jasmine one of the few bar soaps I enjoyed using.

Overall i’ll likely be ordering some more candles and guest soaps through the website however unless I find another store I doubt Illl be back it just left me total disappointed and kinda felt like a little corner shop with everything crammed in. Now off to Lush to stock up on bath bombs as Bombscosmetics just don't come close :)

Happy bath time

The big clothes sizing issue - Riversiland skirts

Well hello there long time no see, totally my fault I know. So we had our little mans christening this weekend and I had a nightmare to find a skirt which fit which I thought I would share with you. I am a perfect size 12 (miss my size 8 body but one disastrous c-section later it isn't coming back). My top was a 12 from Lipsy which are usually small fitting however the skirt was a whole different storey. I always pick up a selection of sizes since having him to take in the changing room on this occasion I was glad I did.

Below is the three skirts I picked up all of a similar stye however those are the skirts which fit from left to right Size10,14,12.

My simple question is why do you do this shops I want to be able to pick up my size and no it will fit, I want to take in a selection of clothes not one item in three size!! I understand different styles have different sizes however these are a lll stretchy skirts in the same material. Sort it out please river island.

Much love

Vicky

P.s Any tips on this changing room selfie thing I can get my face (filter free) however the outfit part has me totally beat.

A little homeware haul

I’ve always enjoyed shopping for cute little bits and pieces be that make up, clothes, baby items or my latest obsession homeward. Since buying our own home a year ago my focus has been on making it look all pretty whilst tolerable to my very masculine fiancĂ©.

Our theme is soft purples and grey cozy comforts with plenty of yankee candles and soft fluffy pillows. I prefer to hold something in my hand for the house before I buy it (unlike clothes and jewellery where I'm an online girl) hence Next home and The Range are my favourite haunts for our little love nest.

First up I thought Id show you some of the candle related goodies I have picked up to replace my ageing Lovely Kiku Yankee candles. Yankee candles remind me so much of being a teenager when I used to go into Clintons to sniff all the candles (usually only coming away with a small jar for my pocket money may I add). In my university years it was all about the large jars.

Fast forward to my 20’s and I want to introduce you to a little something I cant get enough of and that is Tarts/Wax melts. These little cutie cupcake like creations come in a myriad of  scents and last for around 8 hours per tart which at £1.49 each is to me great value. My tart burner is a simple white one for £6 from tescos.

Summer Scoop - two simple words strawberry ice-cream.
Sweet Apple - The freshest scent of red apples that reminds me of days spent round my grans kitchen table with its over flowing fruit bowel.
Pink dragon fruit - The most difficult scent to describe so ill leave you with Yankee description of tropical fruits, personally its the smell of my house this summer.

Next up are these gorgeous tea light holders I picked up for £1.50 each in Next, they are almost like little flowers sitting on my mantle piece looking so pretty.

Finally Ive seen these vases countless times at weddings and been intrigued at their unique shape……wine glass vases what girl doesn't want a giant wine glass for when the OH has pushed that little bit to far or the baby has emptied every single toy in the house unto the living room! Sadly ours is simple filled with potpourri. £10.99 from The range.

Hope you enjoyed my little homeware haul and show me what you guys are loving right now.

Creamy Pesto Chicken pasta

First off I'm going to say this isn't a cheap mummy recipe, my OH hates aldi and to be honest we rarely go out anymore so food is our luxury. Over the next few months I intend to give you some of our recipes which taste great and are easy to make.

Ingredients

2 large chicken breasts
2 medium onions
2/3 of a 190g (about 130g if you like to measure) jar of Pesto
1 teaspoon full of a spice paste (I've used everything from red curry paste to green curry paste)
Handful of sweetcorn
250ml of double cream
A splash of full fat milk

Method

  1. Dice the chicken into 1cm cubes
  2. Add to a pan (coated in 1cal spray if you prefer) and fry until white
  3. Whilst the chicken is cooking chop the onions
  4. Once the chicken is white added the onions to the pan and cook until soft
  5. Stir in the pesto and heat for around 1 minute
  6. Set the pasta to boil
  7. Add the double cream
  8. Add a splash of full fat milk
  9. Heat until the sauce thickens
  10. Serve with pasta and garlic break
  11. Enjoy!!!

Well hello there if anyone is there! Sorry for the distinct lack of posts life has just gotten in the way sort to speak with an 18 month old terror taking up 99.99999999% of my time and a job that thinks its entitled to 37.5 hours a week aswell.

Banishing the "new mum" skin

Firstly long time no speak........this being a mum thing is time consuming you no!!!! 14 months after he was born I finally think it's time to revive this blog. Now I'd like to say don't expect perfect photos one of things stopping me posting was I simply don't have the time stage "blogger" quality photographs before my Iittke toddler runs off with what I was photographing!!!

On with today's post

Since having ds my skin has lacked that pregnancy glow and was looking dull, scaly and well unkept to the point my make up no longer hid the issues. A trip to boots was long over due so I though I'd show you today's purchases

Trusty scrub of your life with the hevanly soap and glory scent is one of the harshes body scrubs I have tried (I like a strong scrubs) perfect!

Next up was a new purchase botanical microdermabrasion polish in radiant youth. The only way I can describe this is little particles of sand in a smooth nourishing lotion which was scentless. Although a little painfull it has left my skin feeling fresh and delt with the scallyness. Win win definatly a recommendation from me that's for sure.

Now if you want a laugh the only face lotion I could find in the house was this old faithful.

Think another trip to boots is required
